Cub Run Elementary PTA

PTA President's Note

February 21, 2012

NO SPRING FLING! NO FUN RUN! NO BINGO! NO SPELLING BEE! NO WELCOME BACK BBQ! NO FALL DANCE! NO SPORTS CAMPS! NO KID ART! NO MOVIE NIGHT! NO VOLLEYBALL GAME! (the list could go on!)

NO EVENTS!! NO ANYTHING!!!

Current Cub Run families you are facing the very real possibility of hav-ing your PTA dissolve. Four of the five board members are 6th grade par-ents, with no siblings left at Cub Run! We are moving on next year…….The PTA advertised for a nominating committee in the last news-letter, but no one has come forward to form that committee. Two people have already said that they would serve as a VP and the secretary, and Tammy Rohland has agreed to stay on as treasurer, should the PTA con-tinue.

However, the President’s and a second VP and position must be filled!

I don’t know how more ardently I can stress the importance of a PTA op-erating within our school. I think most everyone can see the value of the programs provided and the wide spread use of money generated from the many events the PTA sponsors. It is time for each Cub Run parent to as-sess what you want from your child’s school, and how you can be a part of enhancing your child’s educational experience. You cannot continue to sit back and wait for someone else to step up to the plate…

If no one comes forward to fill the vacant positions by April 1, 2012 the PTA board will begin the process of the dissolving the PTA at the April 17th PTA meeting.

I ask that every parent please consider how you may play a role in ensur-ing the PTA continues at Cub Run.
